Weekly Book Haul (October 10th-October16th)

I was finally able to get some free time this week and decided to give myself a treat plus I need to catch up on my reading list.

Waiting on Wednesday: The Amateurs by Sara Shepard

Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Title: The Amateurs

Series: The Amateurs

Author: Sara Shepard

Date Published: November 1st 2016

Publisher: Disney-Hyperion

As soon as Seneca Frazier sees the post on the Case Not Closed website about Helena Kelly, she’s hooked. Helena’s high-profile disappearance five years earlier is the one that originally got Seneca addicted to true crime. It’s the reason she’s a member of the site in the first place.

So when Maddy Wright, her best friend from the CNC site, invites Seneca to spend spring break in Connecticut looking into the cold case, she immediately packs her bag. But the moment she steps off the train in trendy, glamorous Dexby, things begin to go wrong. Maddy is nothing like she expected, and Helena’s sister, Aerin Kelly, seems completely hostile and totally uninterested in helping with their murder investigation.

But when Brett, another super user from the site, joins Seneca and Maddy in Dexby, Aerin starts to come around. The police must have missed something, and someone in Dexby definitely has information they’ve been keeping quiet.

As Seneca, Brett, Maddy, and Aerin begin to unravel dark secrets and shocking betrayals about the people closest to them, they seem to be on the murderer’s trail at last. But somewhere nearby the killer is watching . . . ready to do whatever it takes to make sure the truth stays buried.

Ok Sara Shepard is one of my guilty pleasure authors I always say I'm done with her books and then she publishes a new one and I end up buying it and this time it's no different.

Ten Books I Read Because of Recommendation

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted at The Broke and The Bookish.  Each week a new top ten list is posted, and to participate all you have to do is fill in YOUR top ten for the list.

This week's topic:

Top Ten Books I Read Because of Recommendation

1)Cinder by Marissa Mayer

For some reason when this series came out I was pretty reluctant to read it, until it was the book of the month for one of my Goodreads book clubs so a lot of the members recommended it, so I decided to give it a chance.

2) Under the Never Sky

Technically Youtube recommended me the book trailer video  and it intrigued me enough to buy the book.

3) Beautiful Creatures

This book's blurb never peaked my attention but a friend kept insisting that I had to give it a chance

4) Escape from Eden

This one was recommended by one of my favorite bloggers, whose taste in books I trust a lot.

Monday Book Recommendations: A Week of Mondays by Jessica Brody

Monday is the day I choose what new books I’m going to start reading but I have so many books in my To Read Pile that sometimes it’s hard to choose so I have decided that on Monday mornings I’ll recommend some  of  my favorite books.

When I made the wish, I just wanted a do-over. Another chance to make things right. I never, in a million years, thought it might actually come true...

Title: A Week of Mondays

Series: -

Author: Jessica Brody

Date Published:August 2nd 2016

Publisher: Farrar, Straus and Giroux

Sixteen-year-old Ellison Sparks is having a serious case of the Mondays. She gets a ticket for running a red light, she manages to take the world’s worst school picture, she bombs softball try-outs and her class election speech (note to self: never trust a cheerleader when she swears there are no nuts in her bake-sale banana bread), and to top it all off, Tristan, her gorgeous rocker boyfriend suddenly dumps her. For no good reason!

As far as Mondays go, it doesn’t get much worse than this. And Ellie is positive that if she could just do it all over again, she would get it right. So when she wakes up the next morning to find she’s reliving the exact same day, she knows what she has to do: stop her boyfriend from breaking up with her. But it seems no matter how many do-overs she gets or how hard Ellie tries to repair her relationship, Tristan always seems bent set on ending it. Will Ellie ever figure out how to fix this broken day? Or will she be stuck in this nightmare of a Monday forever?

From the author 52 Reasons to Hate My Father and The Unremembered trilogy comes a hilarious and heartwarming story about second (and third and fourth and fifth) chances. Because sometimes it takes a whole week of Mondays to figure out what you really want.

Do over stories are some of my favorites, especially when the main character learns so much about herself.

Weekly Book Haul (October 3rd -October9th)

Getting sick and schoolwork definitely put my reading behind, hoping to catch up with it soon.

Reading Challenge Update July-September 2016

Life has been absolutely hectic and if that weren't enough I lost my blogging notebook that had a bunch of my planned posts and once again I'm behind schedule on the year's new releases,  but life goes on so here is how I'm doing when it comes to the reading challenges I set for myself.

The Goodreads Reading Challenge

I left this at 200 and I've gone over it so yay!! Plus I'm only 15 behind what I read last year so I think it's pretty safe to say that I'll surpass my 2015 reads.

Young Adult Book Club's Quarterly Challenge #22

I barely managed to finish this one thanks to the Canadian author only to realize I had already read it but didn't know the author was canadian.

3. Re-read: Zero Day by Jan Gangsei

Young Adult Book Club's Quarterly Challenge #23

New quarterly Challenge and 10 new requirements for future reads, I'm doing good so I'll probably able to finish on time

Rules:

Duration: September 1, 2016 – November 30, 2016

We are a YA Book Club, so all books should be young adult (unless otherwise noted).

You have 3 months to read 10 YA books that satisfy following requirements:

1) Read a book that is a new release published in September, October or November of 2016. If you have difficulties obtaining these new books, you can read a release from the same months in 2015:

2) Read a book whose title starts with one of the letters of the word AUTUMN or FALL:

3) September 13 is Roald Dahl Day. Read a book written for children or a book you read as a child:

4) September 27 is Tourism Day. Read a book written in a foreign country or set in a foreign country:

5) October 6 is Mad Hatter Day. Read a re-telling of anything. Examples include fairy tales, classic novels, Shakespeare etc:

6) October 11 is Coming Out Day. Read a book with a LGBTQ character or that promotes or educates about LGBTQ issues:

7) Read a scary, supernatural or horror book for Halloween, October 31.

8) November is National Novel Writing Month AKA NaNoWriMo. Read whatever you want! Also let us know if you're participating in NaNoWriMo because that is super cool.:

9) November 11 is Remembrance Day. Read a historical fiction or non-fiction book:

10) November 19 is Men's Day so just to be contrary I decided we should read a book written by a female author. Another option is to read a book written by a male but with a strong, well written female protagonist:

Weekly Book Haul (September 26th-October2nd)

As usual school has been interfering with my reading time and book shopping so my haul is pretty small.
