My Review
When the
Aliens decide it’s time to invade us so they do it the smart way and poison the
one thing we can’t live without: Water!!. Sanctuary shows us perfectly how
people will react when faced with danger and I found the way the author wrote it
was very realistic.
Let’s start
with the things I liked about the book:
-The way
earth was being invaded was very intelligent not your usual random attack in major
cities of the world but an attack on something that we can only live without
for about a week. You could tell the author put a lot of thought on how we were
going to be invaded.
-Jennie and
Mickey. I love how their relationship was portrayed and even though there was a
significant age gap between them they were caring and loving with each other.
-Hugh our
smart and gentlemanly hero. Many heroes are only there to be tough and physically
strong but Hugh also brought bravery and brains to the table and he never
hesitated to help. Overall a very decent guy, although he is not perfect and
brooding but a completely human guy.
-Brad, Hugh’s brother and the human “villain”
early on we see he has some younger
sibling issues and unlike Hugh that always tries to help Brad only looks out
for himself and you know what I completely loved that about him because it
shows human nature perfectly.
Now for the
things I didn’t enjoy so much
-Although
the book told us Jennie was a college student she felt more like a high school
student, or at least that’s the vibe I got from reading her point of view.
-When it
was discovered that faith acted as a shield against the infected no one seemed
to question it, if they had discovered it while traveling only with the pastor
it would have made more sense but they discovered it in a military base I
expected the soldiers to be a bit more skeptical about the idea.
I would
like to note that I’m not sure if this book can be considered Christian fiction
or not, if it’s Christian fiction it is wonderfully written since it incorporates
science and faith wonderfully. Another of my worries is that the ending seemed
a bit rushed and I’m not sure if the book is part of a series or a standalone.
But all things considered Sanctuary is a very solid read.
